When I had my old channel 'formulaonemad', I used to get so many requests for different shows and through one reason or another, I never got round to uploading some of them (I still have requests from people now! Don't worry; I'll get round to them sooner or later!) I also never got around to uploading a show from 1992 which was something I always wanted to do but was hesitant to do as I don't know as much about this era like I do with the 1980's but who cares! This show is complete and in somewhat decent quality with some hiss throughout! Los Angeles 1992!

Now, 1992 is the first full year for Elton touring since his trip to rehab in 1990 and there are some after effects from his previous years of indulgence with drugs on show throughout this whole year. The tempos in some songs are even faster than when he was on them but this is most likely because Elton was performing with his own natural energy which makes these shows extremely interesting to listen to! His voice has also become richer but he does growl notes more than in the earlier post-surgery years. Also, his band is made up of most of the people who have toured with him since 1988 but no Fred Mandel however to compensate, Charlie Morgan is back drumming like in 1990. Furthermore, the arrangements on all the songs have improved from how they sounded in late 1989/1990 with Elton now fresh again!

This show is unique as we have a recorded version of Runaway Train featuring the awesome Eric Clapton guest starring on guitar which sounds fantastic and Elton performs Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me twice with George Michael appearing for the second version "as a surprise!" plus it's a great version!

Onto the rest of the set, Elton is in fairly decent vocal shape but his voice isn't the cleanest I've heard on this tour (well what I've heard of it) but this show is still excellent! We have great versions of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (without George!) with some nice phrasing, I'm Still Standing even though it contains some angry birds, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues which is one of the best songs vocally for Elton, Philadelphia Freedom which stands out musically plus I love these versions with the extended introduction, Tiny Dancer which Elton seems to put more into as the song does remind him of the place he is performing, I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That which is flying fast plus highly energetic, Daniel which sounds nice musically with Davey Johnstone on acoustic guitar, The Last Song which is emotional, Rocket Man which has a nice improv, All The Girls Love Alice with Elton hitting falsetto notes plus Charlie Morgan throwing in some excellent drumming, Sad Songs (Say So Much) with the extended intro plus the tempo of the actual song being faster than when Elton was on drugs, The Show Must Go On even though it is dropped several keys Elton still performs it well plus I like his speech before the song, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting which has obnoxious phrasing plus is fast, Candle In The Wind which has very nice phrasing and Your Song which is excellent like most of the time!

Overall, this is a show not to be missed! Enjoy!

Note 1 - Even though Elton is clean from drugs, the facial expressions are worse in 1992 than when he was on drugs! Hence the lovely picture for the video!
