This show was played at the brand new arena The Globe in Stockholm 9th of April 1989. I have to dedicate this show to two. The first one is Adam (Elton Bootlegs) which loves this show as one of the best post-surgery concerts. And I'll give him right, because this show is fantastic with fantastic versions of the songs, not only instrumentally but also vocally. To point out some of the highlights he plays a fantastic version of 'The King Must Die' which is one of my favorite versions next to the versions from 1986 (this does, fortunately, have far better vocals!). He also plays one of the best versions of 'Too Low For Zero' and one of the best soloes on Mona Lisas And Mad Hatter pt. 2. Elton is also still able to hit some falsettos and he shows that in particular on Saturday Night's. Saturday Night's from this show is also one of my favorites. Candle In The Wind is also phenomenal!
The other one who needs a dedication is the Swedish people. I was making these uploads during the soccer game between Sweden and Denmark and since Denmark ran away with the victory I'll give them some consolation.
Anyways this show is fantastic!

After my marathon of uploads the other day, I decided to go through my entire Elton collection and find a show that I really like to upload onto YouTube! This show is 100% complete, in good quality, comes from the European 1989 stretch of the Reg Strikes Back tour and is a candidate for best show of the whole 1989 tour! The show I am referring to is Stockholm 1989! This show is dedicated to ElliSun who originally sent me this show!

Elton John has described 1989 as "the worst year of his life" and whilst I agree with that statement to a point, there are some moments during this year where he was fantastic and this show is one of them shining moments! This is one of the rare shows where Elton rarely messes up any songs (Kiss The Bride is an exception but I'll let him off!) and is mostly clean vocally!

To start the show, we have an excellent performance of Sixty Years On which is probably the best version from 1989, I Need You To Turn To which is one of my personal favourite versions of the song, The King Must Die which is one of the cleaner versions from this period, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word with good falsetto, Have Mercy On The Criminal which has been described as one of the best ever versions of the song, Too Low For Zero which is just as good as the 1984 versions of the song plus Elton's voice has a light tone which sounds awesome, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues which is another version I enjoy to listen to, Philadelphia Freedom which is one of the best versions without Elton hitting the 'shine a light' notes in head voice as he does hit some of the Bb4's during some of the choruses, I'm Still Standing which is a top 5 version post-surgery as he hits all the notes clean plus embellishes nicely, Kiss The Bride where Elton hits the C5's during both verses which makes this a good version compared to others on this tour, I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That with Elton phrasing it closer to the record plus refusing to hit falsetto high notes like he usually did during the song, Candle In The Wind which sounds a lot better than Australia 1986 plus the phrasing is clean so it ranks as a top version, Nikita which has been sung cleaner but still is a nice version, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting which is one of the highlights of the show with Elton hitting a C5 on the third chorus and Your Song which is one of my personal favorite versions with a very unique final chorus! Enjoy this fantastic show!
