During a week that has had juxtaposing emotions for myself, I am going to stay positive and upload a show specially dedicated to a good friend in my bootlegging circle inuliger who is celebrating the birth of his first child Danielle! Last year, he bootlegged a concert at the end of Elton's US/Canadian tour for us and it is a great recording plus it's 100% complete! The show is Calgary 2011 and I thank inuliger for his permission to upload this!

Since the beginning of the century, critics have not particularly enjoyed how Elton's voice sounds as it has deepened and roughened up over time. However, in more recent years, his voice/vocal technique has improved vastly with him now using more head voice and with his tone sounding more a deeper version of 1984, we now have some fantastic performances of the songs (some of the best in over 10 years!)

On this show, Elton is in excellent vocal shape plus his current band is also brilliant! Notable mentions go to Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting which has him singing more chorus notes than he did in 1986 plus he sounds very strong, Levon which proves his higher register still exists as he hits C5's in the outroduction, Tiny Dancer which combines Elton with the backing singers very nicely, Philadelphia Freedom which has sounded awesome for the last two years, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road which has Elton's creative juices still being shown to good effect vocally, Rocket Man which has an awesome improvisation, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues which has always sounded great whatever tour it is performed, Hey Ahab which tsskiller08 adores, Monkey Suit which sounds very energetic, Take Me To The Pilot which has a very nice piano intro plus better vocals than 1986, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me which has the 1984 nuances I mentioned earlier in the description as does Bennie And The Jets which has evolved into a super obnoxious song these days with so much awesome oversinging, The Bitch Is Back which has random but awesome G4/A4's throughout which are reminiscent of 1980's versions, Crocodile Rock which is another song that sounds great these days and Your Song with a lovely speech before it and marvelous vocals! All in all, a fantastic show, enjoy!

Note 1 - Elton isn't too pleased with the audience giving him flowers after Sad Songs (Say So Much)
