On April 12th 2011 Elton did this benefit show for the Matthew Shepard foundation. Matthew Shepard was a student at the University of Wyoming who was tortured and murdered near Laramie, Wyoming, in October 1998. He was attacked on the night of October 6--7, and died at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado, on October 12 from severe head injuries. Shortly after midnight on October 7, 1998, Shepard met Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson for the first time at the Fireside Lounge in Laramie, Wyoming. It was decided that McKinney and Henderson would give Shepard a ride home. McKinney and Henderson subsequently drove the car to a remote, rural area and proceeded to rob, pistol-whip, and torture Shepard, tying him to a fence and leaving him to die. Still tied to the fence, Shepard was discovered 18 hours later by a cyclist, who initially mistook Shepard for a scarecrow.
This show is one of Elton's great ones. He plays all songs very well and sing them very good. He's also playing "American Triangle" in memory of Matthew Shepard (listen to the dedication for him). Moreover songs like "Levon", "Take Me To The Pilot", and "Bennie And The Jets" are very great - especially "Take Me To The Pilot".
